Biography
With more than 30 years of experience, Ms. Shedrick has supported various projects within SAMHSA since 1991. Her background affords her a solid grasp of the key role that SAMHSA, and CSAT in particular, play in the recovery process, as well as the challenges they face in developing treatment protocols, program enhancements, and responsive policies. Ms. Shedrick leads Westover's Training, Technical Assistance, and Organizational Development Practice Group and provides technical, administrative, logistical, and fiscal oversight of the technical assistance, training, organizational development, and program evaluation projects that fall within her domain. She has extensive experience designing and conducting leadership institutes, action planning forums, policy summits, and providing TA to Policy Academies. Ms. Shedrick currently directs Westover's Program Development and Policy Analysis contract with CSAT, where she provides oversight of technical experts and consumers to address current and emerging substance use issues.
Ms. Shedrick also serves as the Senior Technical Specialist on the current LEM Behavioral Health Policy Academy, working in partnership with CSAT and the Behavioral Health Policy Expert Consultant on all key Academy deliverables. She played a major role in recruiting and training the Facilitator team and worked closely with the Facilitator orientation and the onsite daily debriefing sessions. Ms. Shedrick also directed Westover's project with CMHS to address the needs of grantees working with minorities with HIV/AIDS and a diagnosed mental health disorder. The various meetings under this contract focused on topics such as program development, workforce development, cultural competence, trauma, stigma, program evaluation, and sustainability. She also worked with peer educators, using a train the trainer model, to teach risk reduction/risk awareness methods for reaching youth at risk for substance use and HIV/AIDS. Ms. Shedrick, who holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia, is a licensed social worker in the District of Columbia.
